My friend Jim Cochrane recently traveled to Switzerland to meet up with UCI elite trials rider, Debi Studer. Together they traveled through France to Spain, where they received some bike trials coaching from Cesar Cañas (Cañas Trial Academy) and participated in the Spanish Cup trials competition in Cartegena. Along the way, they stopped and rode at a number of different trials parks – sometimes two a day!

Jim first met Debi at the 2024 Bentonville Bike Fest. During the 2025 Bike Fest, Debi invited Jim to come visit so they could travel to Spain in March 2026 for some trials riding. As the weeks progressed following the Bike Fest, plans for the trip began to gel.
While Jim and Debi were visiting and traveling through Europe, they took some video clips (Jim borrowed my GoPro). Upon Jim’s return, I interviewed him about many aspects of the trip. The result is an eight episode series documenting Jim’s experience on this trip. Leading up to the 2026 Bentonville Bike Fest, the episodes will drop daily until they’re all live on YouTube.
