The Shin Dig podcast interviewed Mike Friddell of North American Trials at the Bentonville Bike Fest. I got a front-row seat.
It was over 90F and humid, but we went for a ride anyway. Ryan’s brakes locked up due to the heat, Tony unlocked a new cheat, and Scott nailed massive rollups.
I was taking it pretty easy. I started slow, but was actually doing some halfway decent lines. Until a brutal shin dig sent me to the emergency room!
With thunderstorms threatening, Dan, Scott, and I began our trials biking session in the woods. Tony and Jim soon arrived with beer (and no bikes) to heckle us.
Fails and bails are an integral part of trials. To celebrate failure, I’ve begun compiling the best crashes, fails, and bails for each year starting in 2021.
Eric was today’s guest trials rider. Scott attempted to ride the narrow sea wall skinny. And Tony broke his bike chain.
Jim and I rode our trials bikes on some rocks in the woods this week. I could not seem to keep my feet on the pedals and neither one of us had our mojo.
This was one of those bike trials group rides where despite being hot as heck, it actually had a good turnout.
Scott really wanted to ride the scary sea wall skinny line, but chose to walk away this time. He has the skill, but the consequence of failure is really high.
